Long Island Expressway Reckless Endangerment: 25-Year-Old Found Covered In Powder, Police Say

A 25-year-old has been accused of reckless endangerment and other charges after he was found driving on the Long Island Expressway while covered in powder, police said.

Dorian Lewandowicz, a 25-year-old man from Illinois, was nabbed on DWI charges after police say they discovered him slumped over his steering wheel and covered in powder.

On Saturday, July 23 at approximately 9 p.m., Nassau County Police responded to the Long Island Expressway in Plainview on reports that there had been an accident.

When they arrived, they saw a 2023 Nissan Altima near Exit 46.

Inside, the driver was slumped over the steering wheel with the car still in drive.

Officers were able to put the car in park and saw that the driver’s face and clothes were covered in a powdery substance.

The driver, 25-year-old Dorian Lewandowicz, of Lemont, Illinois, located about 28 miles southwest of Chicago, was arrested after police determined that he was impaired.

He was charged with: 

  • Reckless endangerment,
  • Assault,
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, 
  • Tampering with physical evidence.

He is due back in court on Friday, July 28.
